Dr Yerington joins us and gives us a prescription for living with a disability

Meet Dr. Christopher Yerington. Dr. Yerington shares with us his personal journey through disability and the cost to him – both financially and personally.  This first episode describes his personal journey through understanding, accepting, and helping others understand the definition of disability.   He has coped with a sudden change in the purpose of his life.  The journey Dr. Yerington shares is raw, honest, dark and scary.

He would love for anyone enduring a disability to be prepared ahead of time so if this event ever visits you, you are protected.  You should understand your disability policies so you can live your life free from financial worry.

Dr. Yerington is a trained anesthesiologist.  When he worked in with patients enduring chronic pain he began with  this prescription for pain management.

This is a prescription he used to write for patients who had gone through 7 or 8 providers before being in the OSU Pain Clinic:
Eat right – mostly vegetables and good variety, some fruits, no meat, no dairy, little to no oil or salt, use spices instead, no alcohol, no smoking or illicit drugs and then add long grain rices and beans to make up calorie counts for height. Drink only water.
Sleep right – 7.5–8.5 hours. Have a consistent bedtime routine, no electronic screens 40–60 minutes before sleep time. Wake up at the same time every day.
Exercise right – Walk every other day 25–35 minutes. Swimming is a great alternative. Be smart about physical activity but do it consistently.
Perform 6 out 7 days for 12 weeks

I believe it is also a good prescription for living.
